Whistleblowing
If you knew a company/government/whatever secret that you knew was bad, will you keep quiet or will you expose it? State your choice and explain why. Please think about the consequences of each choice before you vote.

Re: Whistleblowing
It depends of the impact of the said secret on society. If I knew it was life threatening/vital for the protection of the public, I wouldn't even think about it and gladly leak it to the press.
If not, I would keep it for myself. I don't like feeding the rag papers.

Re: Whistleblowing
Dutchy said it well. It all depends on the situation at hand.
Something that affects citizens and is obviously bad, I would report without a doubt.
If it was something that would just affect the said institution or the person/ persons involved, then I wouldn't care and wouldn't say anything.

Re: Whistleblowing

Let's say that you work for McHortons, a fast food chain in Canada. What would you do if you found out (when an official tells you about it) that the packaging they use contains lead?
Let's see the consequences. If you blow the whistle, the public would know that McHortons has a safety issue with their products, and that would bring bad publicity to them. However, you'll probably get fired from your job, and other companies might be hesitant in hiring you because you expose company secrets.
If you don't blow the whistle, people won't know why lots of Canadians are getting lead poisoning. You'll still keep your job, and the company might trust you more, but you'll have a dangerous and evil secret in your conscience.

Not that evil...
I'd keep quiet. I never speak up when I should.

I would research on if the officals told anyone else about the secret, and if I wasn't the only one then I would tell ask company to change the packaging anonymously (like a note or letter). And If they refuse to change their packaging I would tell the public. Anonymously and secretly of course. (Other companies won't know that I expose company secrets because they don
t know its me)
I have a feeling there is a flaw in my plan... But yeah
