I can see only for "topics" on this forum. Masked or not?

If you can only see the "Public Forums" then you aren't yet masked.

Did you send a PM to Mustache Dictator in the game? If so, jump on the IRC. They'll usually mask you if you ask nicely.

What is the purpose of being masked?

Being "masked" means being given a certain level of access to the forums. For example, if you are masked as a citizen, you'll be able to access the citizen-only areas of the forums. If you're masked as a congress member, you'll be able to access the congress sections, etc.

You can see the different available masks, and their colour codes, near the bottom of the main forum page. When you are given a certain mask, your name will become that colour. If you have several masks your name's colour will be that of the "highest" mask according to some masking hierarchy that the admins have defined.

As you probably can see there are several different colors represented just in this thread. Not quite sure how many there are but as TTplaya explained they allow you to read threads that are "classified" and "top secret". Maybe not that serious but you get the picture
