newb here who did it wrong, lol

I joined 25 days ago or so and basically ignored that first welcome e-mail. I finally read it yesterday and had to kick my own butt for about an hour as I finally saw this forum and all the helpful info that I wish I had had. Wow. So to all the other true newbs here who are reading this on their first day, congrats and welcome. You are in the right place. Man do I have some catching up to do.

Welcome Orion, I am also new and missed the original message. Luckily I saw it the next day so I didn't miss out as long as you did.

Yeah.... Feelin a little foolish. Is there a way to get the word out a little quicker to the new citizens? Get their attention sooner?

Not sure that there's anything faster than the welcome message when you sign up and log in to eRep for the first time.

Maybe we can get the Admins to modify Plato to give a link to the official forums of your starting country.

That would be pretty cool, and helpful too

They really need to fix Plato in other areas, too. I think there's been a long-standing issue where Plato won't let people know when a Mutual Protection Pact has Activated involving Canada and therefore those people can fight from Home.

As you can probably already tell there are a lot of very helpful people here to get you going in the right direction to make up for past problems.

We could also use more people on IRC! *hint hint*

Yeah, I pretty much did what plato said to do.

And he's not all that helpful. When he says to get a job, he doesn't explain the Q-penalty part. So I just assumed that the better the job's Q the better it would be for me. Took me some time on the wiki before that error became apparent.
Same goes for the training.

I also had the same difficulty when starting up Orion. Actually, since I created my toon on the cusp of the Day Change, I got to work/train twice, so I really didn't know how long a "day" was at first.

A day begins at midnight so what Mackaybre was trying to say I think was he probably registered at 11pm and worked right away then at 12:01 am was able to go and do that all over again not realizing that he just caught the end of the last day and the beginning of the next making it seem like you can work multiple times per day when you cannot. So basically, yes a day is a day here.
